Subaru WRX STI Fitment Guide: GC8, GDB, VAB and VB by Chassis Code
Short answer: Subaru chassis codes matter more than model years, because the floorpan changed at every generation. GC8 for 1992 to 2000. GDB and GDA for 2000 to 2007. VAB and VAG for 2014 to 2021. VB and VN for 2022 onward. A mat cut for one will not sit right in another.
Subaru is the platform where people get this wrong most often, partly because Australia, Japan and the US all used different model names for the same shell. This guide goes by chassis code, which is the only thing that actually determines fitment.

GC8: the one that started it
The GC8 ran eight years and covered WRX, STI Version 1 through Version 6, and the naturally aspirated RS. All of them share the same floorpan, and two door and four door share the same carpet, which surprises people. Our GC8 set is five pieces including the centre tunnel mat.
Colour choice actually matters on this car. Black with charcoal grey keeps the interior dark and hides dust the way the factory carpet never did. Black with blue is the obvious call if the car wears WR Blue outside.
GDB and GDA: bugeye, blobeye, hawkeye
Three facelifts, one chassis. The headlight changes that give these cars their nicknames are cosmetic, and the body underneath is the same across all three, so one cover pattern handles the lot.
Floor mats for the GDB and GDA are not a stocked pattern right now. We cut them to order, so ask us with your chassis and we will quote a set.

The VAB is the final WRX STI Subaru built, which is doing to its values roughly what you would expect. Our VAB and VAG checker mats are cut for that floorpan, and the same pattern covers both the STI and the standard WRX of that generation.
VB and VN: the current car
The 2022 onward WRX moved to a new platform again. Different floorpan, different pattern. If you are cross shopping mats and see a VAB set advertised as fitting a VB, it does not.
Liberty and Legacy
Not every Subaru in the range is an Impreza. We also cut a set for the BP and BH Liberty and Legacy, which shares nothing with the Impreza floorpan despite the family resemblance.

Every set above uses high low loop carpet, cut and bound by hand. The driver mat carries a reinforced heel pad where your right foot pivots between throttle and brake, which is the spot that wears through carpet long before anything else. Backing is rubber nipple plus velcro strips, and there is a metal grommet eyelet that locates on the factory retaining hook, so the mat cannot creep toward the pedals.
Covers we do not make yet
We stock indoor covers for the GC8 and the GDB and GDA only. There is no VAB, VAG, VB or VN cover in the range at the moment. Both can be patterned as a custom order if you want one cut for your car.

FAQ
Will GC8 mats fit a GDB? No. The GDB moved to a different shell and floorpan.
Do two door and four door GC8 use different mats? No. They share the same carpet.
Is there a left hand drive option? Yes on the GC8 set. Contact us before ordering and we will cut the correct side.
Do you make an STI Version 5 or 6 specific mat? They are all GC8, so the standard GC8 set covers them.
