Short answer: there are three Evo cover patterns and they are not interchangeable. CP9A covers the Evo 5, 6 and 6.5 Tommi Makinen. CT9A covers the Evo 7, 8 and 9 sedan. CT9W covers the Evo 9 Wagon. Buying by generation number instead of chassis code is the mistake that gets a cover sent back.
Evo values have climbed hard, and most of the cars we cover now spend more time parked than driven. That is exactly when a cover earns its money: dust, light knocks and UV fade all happen to a car sitting still.

CP9A: Evo 5, 6 and the Tommi Makinen
The CP9A is the generation appreciating fastest, and the 6.5 Tommi Makinen Edition is the reason. Our CP9A pattern is cut to clear the factory rear wing and it already accounts for the TME specific front bumper and bonnet, so the Tommi Makinen does not need a separate cover.

This is the best selling cover we make, across every model we pattern. The CT9A pattern clears the factory rear wing including the Evo 9 lip extension, which is the detail cheap universal covers always get wrong. Fabric pulled tight over a wing becomes a contact point, and a contact point that sits there for six months wears paint on the endplates.

The wagon is the same car forward of the B pillar and a completely different shape behind it. The roofline runs flat to the tailgate instead of dropping into a boot, so a sedan cover simply does not reach. This is the single most common mistake wagon owners make.
Mitsubishi built the CT9W for two years only and in small numbers, which is why most of these covers go to owners keeping the car rather than driving it daily.

We do not currently stock a pattern for the Evo 4 CN9A or the Evo 10 CZ4A. Both can be cut to order. Send us your chassis and we will pattern one.
Worth noting for CN9A owners: the Evo 4 body differs enough from the CP9A that the CP9A cover will not sit right, so please do not order it as a substitute.
Why indoor, and why breathable
These are dust covers for garaged cars, not waterproof outdoor covers, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a cost saving. Waterproof fabric on a car parked inside traps condensation against the paint and the seals. On a twenty five year old Evo with original paint, that does more damage over a winter than dust ever would.
The velvet stretch knit has a soft napped inner face that will not scratch, a four way elastic weave that hugs the body instead of tenting over it, and enough breathability that moisture escapes rather than sitting there. Full detail is in the indoor car cover buying guide.
Using it properly
Three rules do most of the work. Cover a clean car, because a cover protects clean paint rather than replacing a wash. Wait 30 to 45 minutes after driving so the exhaust and brakes are cool. Lift the cover on and off instead of sliding it, since dust on paint acts like fine sandpaper the moment fabric drags across it.
Wash cold on gentle two or three times a year, no fabric softener, air dry. Softener coats the fibres and kills the breathability. The cover care guide has the full routine.
Matching the interior
Covers protect the outside. Inside, we cut checker floor mats for both Evo floorpans: one set for the CN9A and CP9A, another for the CT9A. The CT9A set also suits the wagon.
FAQ
Will an Evo 6 cover fit an Evo 8? No. CP9A and CT9A are different bodies. Each cover is cut for its own chassis.
Does the Tommi Makinen need a special cover? No. The 6.5 shares the CP9A body, and the pattern already clears its bumper and bonnet.
Can I use the sedan cover on my Evo 9 Wagon? No. The wagon roofline runs flat to the tailgate and the sedan cover will not reach.
Will it fit with an aftermarket wing? The patterns clear the factory wing. For a taller aftermarket setup, send us your spec and we can pattern a custom cover.
Can I park it outside under the cover? No. These are indoor dust covers. Rain, UV and wind flap are outdoor cover problems, and a wet breathable cover pressed against paint by wind does more harm than good.
